ROMANTIC HEROES

After his recent Haydn–Mozart programs, Kossuth Prize-winning conductor Gábor Takács-Nagy now presents a distinctly Romantic program. The concert opens with a Franz Schubert overture, which the composer rescued from failed stage works (The Magic Harp, Rosamunde) and later refined for the concert stage after its initial lack of success. It became a popular piece in concert halls. Next, Éva Kóbor performs Max

Bruch’s expressive, serious, and virtuosic Violin Concerto No. 1. She has been collaborating with the Budapest Festival Orchestra since 2024 as part of the European Orchestra Academy. She was invited after winning (along with a colleague) the orchestra’s Sándor Végh Competition in January 2026. The concert ends with Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 2, a work that echoes the composer’s struggles and recovery from physical and mental health issues. Experience the battles and victories of Romantic heroes!
