Featured Concert of the Con Spirito Festival
In June 2025, the Westminster Cathedral Choir of Boys toured Hungary with great success. Inspired by the uplifting experiences of that tour, Filharmonia Hungary will once again crown the organ subscription series in 2026 with a concert by a prestigious boys’ choir.
In Catalonia, not far from Barcelona, stands the Abbey of Montserrat, whose boys’ choir traces its roots back to the 13th century and whose life is still shaped by the traditions of Benedictine schools and churches. In addition to vocal training, the boys study instruments as well; the school’s academic standards are on par with the most highly regarded institutions, and their educators place special emphasis on moral and social development. Not all of the children who grow up here go on to become musicians, but the path to a professional musical career remains open to them. The heart of the ensemble’s work is liturgical service, yet as a choir of exceptionally high quality, they also give regular concerts, undertake international tours, and make recordings. The permanent membership of the choir consists solely of children's voices, but when the repertoire requires male parts, former members – now adults – join them.
In May 2026, they will travel several thousand kilometres to perform for the Hungarian audience.
